Why in the world are there commercials on Pittsburgh television for Sonic when the closest store is 87 miles away in Heath, Ohio? Sonic's website does not allow me to write and ask this question, and I dont have the time to call but they do offer an 800#.

The only thing I can figure is that the commercial is broadcast on a nationwide channel like USA and TBS. I live in Connecticut and it still pisses me off when I see Sonic commercials. The nearest Sonic is probably 500 miles away. I'm from NC, and I grew up with Sonic. Those damn commercials make me crave chilli-cheese-tots and cherry-lime-ades. Also, I don't think it necessarily means you're getting one in your area just because you see the commercial. I've been seeing them for 5 years. No chilli-cheese-tots yet...

Sonic buys national Advertising - it's more cost efficient than paying in each individual market because there are so many Sonics around.
I do remember reading over the winter that one was opening in Washington, PA soon though with more to come after that

I used to live in NJ and same thing - advertisements all the time and none close to the house.
The food is okay but the service is terrible. You are not missing anything with Sonice.

Good question. I'm noticing that more and more restaurants are doing this. We saw an ad on a local station the night before last for a restaurant that is almost 700 miles away. I looked up the location on the 'net.

I've seen the same on some "national" channels here in CT and we have no Sonic....They have them in SC when I lived there and they were awesome....I think its just advertising...so if you go where they have them, you'll be like "Oh, Sonic! Gotta check it out!"....

i dont know but i live in chattanooga and we have joes crab shack commercials but the nearest one is in atlanta 100 miles away. and sorry for your loss no sonic is no good. sonic rocks and their commercials leave you wanting it more

some of the commercials are world wide, some channels have this commercials on, just in case you travel some place that they have one, and since you saw the commercials you'll probably will want to go.
most of this commercials are from chains restaurants.

i've also wondered this myself. my ex would see sonic ad's when he lived in jersey, and there was no sonic anywhere close to him. but when he came down here, to south carolina, to visit, we'd always go eat there. perhaps that's why?? ;)
