I was watching the Mets play this weekend and one of the commentators stated that JJ hardy was by far the better ss this year thus far and should be the nl east starter at short stop despite trailing Mr Reyes in the voting. Not only did he say this but he was quite adamant and argumentative about it. He could not understand how Reyes could be leading in the voting. He did not say Reyes was not any good but he said he should not be the starter. Now this is a baseball analyst someone who studies and lives for baseball. His comments were quite off the wall to me and I am not even a Mets fan but Reyes is the best ss in the NL east despite Harrdy' s good half of a season thus far. Hardy is good but I will take Reyes any day any time...what do you think? Did anybody else hear this?

I have herd the arguments on both sides. Hardy 286-18-50 and Reyes 317-3-33. The big issue with me is Reyes 38 stolen bases and Hardy zero. Reyes is by far the better defensive player and is probably the most exciting player to watch, from a fans point of view, because of his speed. Good numbers for Hardy and I can understand the argument but Reyes is the Man for the all-star game.

No-brainer here, Jose Reyes should start. He's quite possibly the most exciting player to watch in the NL and maybe the entire league. I know Hardy has put up some decent numbers, but there's really not much to debate.

Reyes by far, I was at a game against the brewers Hardy ended up with 2 errors, and one mental mistake scored as a hit. Reyes is a more electric, exciting player than JJ Hardy, I hold no biased to the name haha.

I heard this too. ESPN.com actually had an article on the comment. Reyes by far, his on base percentage is higher and Reyes is beating Hardy in stolen bases by 38! I'll take Reyes any day over Hardy. Hardy started out well but he is starting to fade.

Jose Reyes for sure. He's an awesome defensive player, he's gotten a lot more discipline at the plate and he leads the league in stolen bases (again). Not to be rude, but it's really a no brainer.

NO jj hardy has more homers of course but it was all done at the beginging of the year and then he slowed down big time. Reyes has been consistent all year and he definitly deserves it over hardy.

Uh...

Do you mean the NL ?

The Brewers are in the NL Central. The Mets are in the East

And Reyes should be the starting NL shortstop.

Hardy has cooled down, and for me i think the 2 all star SS should be Renteria and Reyes.I mean Renteria is batting .324 with 10 home runs and 30 something rbi's,and leads the NL in OPS.How is that not an all star???

I heard that too, that was actually on FOX during the Yankees vs Giants game that they talked about it. Reyes by far deserves to be the starting shortstop. Look at his offensive numbers from the leadoff spot. Look at his gold glove defense.
