For December, the traditional birthstone is blue topaz, the modern one is turqouise.

Blue Topaz and Turqoise are also considered December birthstones. Seems like blue stones tend to be linked with December. Tanzanite is another one.

it's been turquoise since December 20, 1971, i know that for a fact. that's when my first son was born. that's always been his birthstone. sometimes, however, "they" change things or add to them. now all we have to do is find out who "they" are and ask them what's up!
