When your needs are put before theirs, your thoughts and opinions matter to them. They will go out of their way for you. If there is a misunderstanding you can tell it is tearing them apart until it gets resolved.

Infatuation is the first stage, if this is to become love you must move past the emotional and into a more thoughtful REAL place, where you learn who the person is, and come to know who the two of you are together.
In my opinion Love is in the actions not the feelings.
True love grows and blooms into something safe, comfortable, yet exciting and unpredictable!

Do they serve themselves, or are they looking out for your/our interests often at the peril of their own.
Love is a choice and a sacrifice - finding our greatest joy and pleasures in the happiness and success of the beloved.
Look at a dedicated Mother or Father and you'll get the idea. If your a Christian - look at a cross (same message). Do you care enough - even to die? That's Love!

Alas dear, we can only take their word until the big "test" comes along. However, you will know if YOU love someone. That "someone" is the person you should ask. They may not tell the truth, but they know better than the great, untutored masses of Y/A.
Now, if you want to know if they "lust" you, that is pretty easy to tell. Maybe that is why nobody ever asks about that.

I think by the person's actions and attitude. The words I love you doesn't mean a thing unless the person shows the love.

i thought i had an answer but now i am not sure anymore. i guess it is when sorry i don't know it is far easier to know when you are in love than if someone really loves you. sorry a waste of space i know

You'll understand what "True love" means only when you will try to leave her/him.
So, if you want to find out whether 'someone' is in love with you - just try to leave her/him.
If that person will do everything in her power to make you stay - then she(he) is in love with you...
