It was not installed properly then. You need to make sure of the following:

1) Make sure it has power.
2) Make sure your IDE/SATA cable is properly conected.
2) Make sure it is set to CS (Cable selcect).
3) Make sure your controller is turned on in the BIOS.

Only then will your computer see it.

If the new drive is using the same ribbon cable as your first drive, then consider this tip.

Look at the JUMPERS on the first hard drive. If it is configured to MASTER, then configure the new drive as SLAVE. If the first one is set to CS (Cable Select), then set the new drive as Cable Select.

If the new drive is on a secondary cable by itself, then it should be set to MASTER or CABLE SELECT.

Maybe you should get intot he BIOS Settings. Use F1 or DEL during startup sequence. Maybe the drive section that you are using is DISABLED. Just set that to AUTO.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Check the hard drive jumpers (Master, Slave or Cable Select) and all cable connections. Check the BIOS settings, too.

If all are correct, Google search for: install hard drive

If not luck, your drive may be D.O.A, return it for replacement.

Go into the bios and do autodetect on the hard drive. Make sure that you have set up a partition and have formated it.

use the fdisk function in windows to do this.

Try following this:

And do not expect to boot from an empty hard disk. You need to load OS first from an installation CD.
