Im not american but I understand that the majority vote in the congress decide new laws but the president can block it and pass the law back to the congress with suggestion of changes and then they can go on like this.

So when the president object to the bill there will not be a new law unless congress can find a 2/3 majority to pass it against the presidents will.

Actually the president make every law leagal by singning it. That means that he approve to the majority vote in congress so he does decide what laws that will become in the end.

Please correct me if im wrong.

The only thing Thorgirl is on this immigration bill the administration did work with the Congress to come up with a bill they could support and the president would sign. That does happen on a lot of issues. Even though it seems to have been Dead before arrival the President and administration put together legislation on Social Security reform at the beginning of the second term and had legislators put it in play.

Well... if you think the president doesn't introduce bills you are insane. He is the leader of his party and please believe that if he wants a bill submitted there will be a republican congressman that will do his bidding. He has the ultimate power anyway because he can veto a bill and the 2/3 vote required to over ride a veto is damn near impossible to get considering that most people who share the president's party are not going to vote to overturn his veto.

It's a system of checks and balances. President can Veto, Senate and over rule with a 2/3 vote.

Actually the President can present a bill to Congress to have them vote on it.

The bill does not become law until the President approves or has veto overriden so the passing into law is also in the President's area.

The President has a great deal of input as to what Bills are presented. He wanted to invade Iraq and the Senate and Congress had to vote yea or nay. The President influences his party unless he's delusional and won't listen to anyone but the voices in his head which is happening now.

I do and many Americans do. I just think Bush thinks he is the head of a Cowboy Republic and his branding iron says veto. The crowd in Congress cannot put aside that good ol' partisan posturing and work together to rein in the rogue Cowboy and his cohorts in crime.

George Bush and the Skull and Bones Society have circumvented contitutional law via the Patriot Act. It is no longer necessary for the President to get Congressional assent or approval in order to enact new laws. Beware the New World Order!!!

Congress can PRESENT Bills all day long, if the President wont SIGN THEM INTO Law, then they are just wastepaper.

With a three quarters majority they can override a VETO, but if he just doesnt sign it, they have to start the process all over again.

I understand it. I also know, when Congress passes a bill, the legislators walk away from it. They don't enforce anything. That is the job of the Administration.
