A monocular compound microscope is a microscpe with a single eye piece. Binocular microscopes have two eye pieces so that you can use both of your eyes to view the image. With a single eye-piece microscope you need to close your other eye by closing it or wearing a patch over it.

You need to look at some old photos of microscope to locate such models.

A single eyepiece microscope normally used in schools and colleges.

Can increase magnification by around 1000 times if required.

And for the image.....

mono = one or single
ocular = eye
Therefore it means a microscope with a single eyepiece which uses electricity as a source to have light
