do you expect one day it'll be published like a glorious piece of literature?
or is it so important to remember everything that happens? maybe on the contrary-it's better to forget past?
tell me about it.
thanks

This question is for the women, but i just like to say that guys write in diaries all the time. What about the men fighting in Iraq who write about their experiences every day.

I have wondered that for years; I did it when I was younger but learned to NEVER WRITE ANYTHING DOWN, you will regret it if it is truly a private matter.

I believe many women, and men, find it therapeutic; kind of like talking to a friend. Just logging your life could be a very boring and interesting read many years from now... think of how many things in your life you wont remember in your old age.

If you don't want to have your children read all about your sex capades with the bug, cable, and alarm, guys when you pass away, I would keep this journal somewhere on your computer; password protected....

My diary is for me and me only. It's soothing, relaxing, allows me to tell my every deepest thought and emotion - all the while clearing my head, getting things off my chest and then after a month I go in my computer and delete all my entries. It's the best thing ever, I'm 29 and I've been doing this since I was 10.

A diary is like a dog, sometimes you need to talk to someone just to let everything out, instead of someone talking back or judging you about it. Clearing the heart and the head... you know

Well women keep diaries because they don't want to tell anyone what they really think but write it down to themselves in a diary

It's an outlet and expression for your feelings and emotions...it's personal and private to the writer only...(unless you choose to make it public, as it is with todays technology)...it may not be viewed as a rememberance, it could just be a form of release...silently expressing ones self...without judgement from the outside world...

its also another way of voicing out your feelings.. its like talking to a friend though you are writing it down.. it also helps out clear out things when you can see (in this case, read) it in front of you.. and women dont write a diary hoping for it to be published. it is to be kept private..

I would never think that my diary could or even should be published, but someday my when I am gone, my children and grandchildren will find if amusing and comforting.

I think it is for sentimental reasons. When we grow older, we can read the old diaries, and recall what life was like at a younger age.

no, i actually dont really like keeping a diary anymore. But i like reading my old ones, they make no sense at all sometimes and revisiting the past is funny!
