With Senator Lugar, the leading Republican and Voinovich, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in a floor speech that Bush's strategy was not working and have echoed the words that Democrats had been saying for months is the damage already done to the Republican party? Senator Lugar went on to say that the War in Iraq has negatively impacted our National Security and has actually increased the threat to our country. Can the Republican Party Hope to recover from this by November? And even if they could wouldn't that mean them taking the Democratic Party's line and stance on Iraq? So why vote Republican if they are just now saying what Democrats have been saying all along?
p.s. I also saw an interview with Ann Coulture where even she said "as soon as we get this bafoon out of office" referring to George Bush!

I predict Bush's irreparable damage will be more to his own legacy, which won't be realized until he's long been out of office. Like someone else said, Americans have short memories and Lugar's departure from Bush's ship is probably the first of several GOP actions to distance themselves from lame duck Bush and Iraq.

Look, our first Republican prez: Abe Lincoln, he left the Republicans to run and win his second term on the Union Party ticket. Today, we would consider Abe a Democrat, not a Republican at all. But, in his time the Republicans thought of government as opportunity for personal wealth. The party openly planned the looting of the South as dues for the spoils of war.

Ape Lincoln is what the Repubs called the prez.

Repubs and Demos, they are almost the same. When you have both political ideologies wooing the voters in the middle of the extremes, you have the same political results.

You won't recognize the Repubs ten years from now. Same for the Dems.

Bush has done damage to the Republican Party, but I don't think that it is irreparable.

Remember: After the resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974 the Republican Party was in a shambles, but 6 years later, Ronald Reagan was elected President.

Actually, the damage came long before Bush was in office--with a few coverups--beginning with Mark Foley in 1995.

It just snowballed from there.

I think the party will be OK. It is still very strong in the South. Bush has had a lot of liberal ideas about spending and immigration and many Republicans have broken ranks with him and not the party. I don't think he will campaign for many Republicans in 2008. I think Bush is a wimp.

Americans have very short memories. The Democrats may win next time, but the Republicans, in the words of Arnold S.: We'll be back!

It's a relief to know that there are some sane members of the Republican party. Their days of leading the USA are definitely numbered.
