Sometimes it is hard to understand the question. Or the asker doesn't pose the true issues at the heart of the matter. Some responders are using their own experience to identify with the topic. Be specific about the information you require.

Because most questions are not easily answered with a simple "yes" or "no". If you ask "should I do this or that" then you are asking someone to value judge the risk and reward of either action instead of you doing it. If you ask "how old is the Universe", you will get a vague answer because that isn't known to the day or minute. Think about the question you ask and consider the nature of the answer, even this one, and determine if the answer given matches the question as best as it can.

most people before answering your question is trying to figure you out and why you are asking the question
I would give a straight answer to a question but also give you the opportunity to express your answer also
