Here's a hypothetical question, not leading one way or the other.

Would you agree to the government raising taxes if the taxes were absolutely guaranteed to go to soldier's health care and death benefites, as well as fixing up military hospitals like Walter Reed?

My question was very specific about where this specific money would go. I'm asking should this be a priority? Answer this question independently, without bringing up other issues (even tax or money related issues...)

Why do we have to raise taxes? How about cutting spending on bloated worthless bureaucracy's that waste more of our hard earned money then help anything. And while we're at it if Mrs. Palosi's congress is going to get 20 weeks a year off and when they do work it's from tues. to thursday most weeks then cut their pay by a third that should be a good start in helping our brave soldiers with some of the things they so rightly deserve.

No. The government taxes Americans enough. If you want money to go to soldiers' health care and death benefits, then disband some worthless government programs and re-route the money. The government needs to learn how to budget rather than assuming there's an endless flow of cash at its disposal. That cash comes out of my wallet, darnzit.

they should. we've already starved the beast, meaning there isn't a dime and with a budget deficit and a 9 trillion national debt...i don't know where the money would come from.

Unfortunately the Iraq War is the only American war, besides the Mexican American war, where American’s taxes weren’t raised to help war funding. Americans, both rich and poor, aren’t making a financial sacrifice and I’ll wage that the seldom pro-war bush apologists would unthinkingly object to the war if their taxes rose because having a thick wallet is of the utmost importance to them.

Abolishing already under funded safety net programs will only weaken our infrastructure and future economic growth. Contrary to neocon rhetoric, safety net programs help the overall economy.

The government needs to clean up their act and begin scrutinizing programs that are failures that don't belong under Federal control, cleaning up agencies that are wasting money, and I could add another hundred things to this list. If they did that, we'd end up paying our debts off, have money for things that are truly needed and there would be no need to increase taxes.

I think the Pentagon should be held accountable for where our tax money is going now!
There is money there for the vets. Bush keeps cutting it to fund his folly war.

Just cut out Corporate Welfare and give that money to the soldiers' health care and death benefits.

Nope, we don't need to raise taxes, the government takes in enough tax money as it is! The pork barrel spending needs to go, and we need those purse strings tightened. The only reason the democrats want more money, is to give it away on social feel good programs and i say no!

If they want or need more money, let them donate their pensions. Then I would believe they cared about the troops.
