it depends on the serve you are hitting, and a lot of other things. i have a list of most common mistakes.

1)dropping your head and taking your eye off the ball
2)dropping your left shoulder
3)not extending fully up into the ball
4)tossing the ball in the wrong way and direction

i know more but can't help untill i see you serve

i fixed my serve a couple days ago, so now its much better. Here are the things i changed: 1. i toss the ball higher and hit it when my arm is fully extended, this way i have more control over the ball. 2. after i make contact with the ball i follow through with my racket in the exact direction where i want the ball to go. 3. dont take your eyes off the ball, untill u actually see the racket hitting it. 4. make sure to shift your weight from one leg to the other, and go FORWARD after hitting the ball. Hope it helps :)

Hitting the ball at too large an angle when you serve or hitting it to hard, I cannot simply tell with the information given. You could do things like video tape yourself serving or getting someone to watch you so you can find out exactly what the problem is.

The ball is supposed to go over the net...It is not supposed to go over the baseline...
