Hi,
Good for you. YOu made a choice and got on with it. You are doing something with your life and you are pursuing what's important to you.
Some people find it hard to adapt to change and to understand those who feel a need to 'move on'. When I was younger I made a choice to move away from my family and it was my in-laws who made it the most difficult. Even so we got on and did what we felt was right for us and eventually other people accepted it. We're still in touch with friends from home even though it's over twenty years since we moved away. And I've never regretted the decision. It was right for us.
So, don't feel guilty. You shouldn't have to explain. If people care for you they will be glad you are doing something positive with your life. Of course these friends are still important to you and you haven't completely ditched them but you will make new friends and a new life for yourself too.
You haven't done anything wrong.
Polly

Theyre not really your friends if theyre gonna be like that. They have to understand that this is what you want in your life. Friends are great but ones that understand what your doing and why your doing it are even better. If it really bothers you just say to them that this is what youve wanted to do in your life and if they cant accept that then I suggest you find better friends and move on cause at least you can say that you tried to explain it but they just didnt want to listen.

People should understand that your scholarship comes first.
Its a bit hard to keep in contact from another state anyway.

They are just being selfish. If they were mature friends, they would be happy for you.
