Dreams work both ways. Good dreams enthuse you and bad ones sap your energy for the day or so.The idea is to set it aside and let good thoughts come in so that a positive energy will flow in your veins and you will feel better in doing the work you are doing.

It could be that this dream caused you to awaken, thus disturbing your REM sleep: we need several hours of this deeper sleep in order to feel refreshed. If you'd been in bed, somewhat conscious afterwards, your REM sleep - the deeper type, where we dream - would have been lost. During this time perhaps you worried or had your mind consciously engaged in thoughts and then didn't sleep enough afterwards.

Yes, stressful dreams emotionally drain and leave you feeling stripped of your energy when you wake up. They have a powerful effect on your emotions.

yes. Dreams are a part of your life, and can similar to your deeds during day time, affect your physical status.
Your dreams are speaking out of your subconcious mind, that is what you beleive in, not really knowing about it.

It really can. Your mind is exhausted from what you've been through. Sometimes a dream is so vivid you begin to feel as if you're living it and that will definitely take a toll.
