i bled heavy for the first 5 days after my son then it just became something i would barely even consider spotting, i could get by with just a panty liner and then yesterday when i woke up i was rather crampy and heavy again. I imagine its just my body still cleaning itself out, but does anyone know if its possible to be starting my cycle right now?

Seriously, seriously unlikely.

If you don't breastfeed, you will probably resume your periods between 4-10 weeks post delivery. Breastfeeding will delay this.

Women commonly bleed for as long as 4-6 weeks after giving birth - this is called lochia and is basically the uterine lining that was stored during the pregnancy - like a super-period. Lochia often smells pretty bad - if what you are passing doesn't smell that nice then this is probably what it is. The stop-start pattern isn't unusual as your cervix is still healing as well and sometimes it is swollen and the blood gets backed up until the swelling goes down and it comes out in a gush.

Bleeding for just 5 days after the birth is very short, so if you are only about 10 days post delivery then there is a very good chance that this is simply more post delivery discharge coming through and not your period returning. Your body would not have had a chance to run a complete menstrual cycle ending in a period in just 10 days.

if you are worried about it call your doctor or midwife.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!!
each pregnancy etc is different,
This bleeding could just be the rest of the postpartum bleeding, some women bleed for up to 6 weeks after birth, you only bled for 5 days, its quite common to bleed then stop, then start bleeding again when you become more active (walking more or house cleaning etc)

If there is a lot of pain, large blood clots, or offensive smelling, you need to head back to your doctor just to get it checked and make sure all is good. But I dont think its anything to worry about!

It is; I know that some women gettheir menstrual cycles most or all of the way through their pregnacies. You bled fora really long time after giving birth, though, and something could very easily be wrong. Contact a medical professional to find out for sure.

Alot of women bleed for a month, for some women, bleeding starts and stops, do for atleast a month, this will carry on. and its not considered periods.

Yes it is possible but if you get dizzy and it does not stop you must go see a doctor.
