Stress can REALLY affect getting your period. Mine once disappeared for almost five months due to accidentally losing a lot of weight and going through serious emotional stress. These three are often causes of skipped periods:
- Recent weight loss or gain
- Decrease in appetite
- Serious emotional trauma/emotional stress

Also, people with low amounts of fat can stop having their periods. If your friend is a serious athlete, or if she may have an eating disorder (which she should get help for), then her period may have stopped. If neither of those are true, and you're sure that there is no way any sperm could have gotten inside of her, then it's probably stress-related.

If she doesn't get it soon, however, she might want to go to a gyno to get herself checked out just to make sure nothing is wrong. It's a good idea to start going at the age of 18 or when you become sexually active (whichever comes first).

Anyway, it's probably just stress, and while it's a bit of a pain to have no clue when your period's coming, it's really no big deal.

I hope I've helped!

Is your friend very athletic? Atheletes who are training heavily can skip their cycles for months. I skipped for almost a year when I was a competitive swimmer. Also, are you sure that no sperm has come within a yard of her vaginal opening? There doesn't have to be penetration, those little guys are heat seeking tadpoles and will swim inside and upstream if they are anywhere close to an opening. Even the first drop of "lubricating fluid" a man exudes has sperm in it. I am sorry for being so graphic, but if there is a chance that your friend might be pregnant, she should start pre-natal care right away. And she should tell her parents.

Could be a hormone imbalance but the only way to know for sure is to have her see her dr for further evaluation to see what they think could be causing this.
