Disney packages its programming with the ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, ESPN News, ESPN-U). Then cable companies such as Comcast or Cox buy these packages from The Walt Disney Company. They are really expensive, which is why Comcast offered to buy Disney a couple of years ago (mostly to get ESPN). They also own ABC, but this network is separate from the cable packages since it is run through network affiliates in individual markets. Disney also owns ABC Family and Toon Disney, and partially owns A&E and Lifetime.

There are some great answers up above. I just wanted to add also, that every single movie and show on the Disney Channel has DVD's, CD's, books, toys, ect. This brings in lots of money to help sustain the channel. I don't think you can go anywhere with out seeing High School Musical or Mickey Mouse Club House product. They hit all age groups.

The Disney Channel is one long advertisement for Disney. Even the characters cross-over to other shows to continue it's self-promotion - frankly, it's brilliant.
Hannah Montana (like the Monkees, a fictitious band) has her new album number one on the kid's Billboard chart - that's a lot of money! Even I own a Hannah Montana DVD.
They don't need or want to promote any other product beyond themselves and are doing quite well.
The financial stats on the Disney Corp. are staggering - they make a LOT of money. Movies like Pirates of the Johnny Depp are an investment in the millions with billion dollar returns.

The ABC/Disney Corporation. Disney now owns the American Broadcasting Corporation, formely known as
ABC Television.
Disney makes a lot of money from their Disney Television programs, such as The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, as well as Hanna Montana and Raven Symone's show.
They may also have money from Disney World and Disneyland.
Also, in some parts of the country and the world, the original Mickey Mouse Club shows are airing.

Cable networks pay to have Disney Channel as a part of their line up. Also Disney itself is a multi-million dollar company so they can pretty much sustain themselves well enough.

I tried looking this up but got no answers. I think they may make the money through the movies and thier singers. They have to get a partion of all that. Disney is a multi million industry.

perhaps because Disney's so rich that they can afford to sustain their channel with or without the adverisement. Just look at how many disney theme parks there are all over the world.. plus their movies...

Cable and satellite aren't free. Where do you think the money you pay goes? The signal provider has to pay to get access to show all those channels.

while reading a written publication, you're stimulating your brain. You make your reading and literacy skills and also you in the process, are more literate. Even with today's modern technology, you need to be able to read still.
While you're watching t.v. can be good fun, it isn't doing anything to the human brain.
