It is mesmerising indeed.
It is the new equivalent of lying in the sofa not being able to get up, undress and go to bed properly. Sometimes just lying there watching whatever

My theory is that, the brain likes questions. So the process of answering, It is flattering being asked for an opinion, most people are happy to help, it is also a way to be "heard". Lets face it, with all mediums we have around us I think they guestimate 30000 inputs (adverts, news etc) a day. So this is a way of being heard in the malstrom of info and words going around.
Maybe it is also the completion. We do something and we can see the result immediately - mostly quite a good thing......

It quickly becomes addictive because it makes us feel connected anytime. I firmly believe we all deep inside want to do good. We want to help. It is to a certain degree it is like playing solitaire or freecell on the computer, cannot let it go. Once you hit a button, there is another interesting question, ah feels good, I know about this, let me see, let me see, oh, I think that.... na na na hit the button.
I have noticed that I start with more complex questions, speeding up to the ones that requires a yes or a no.

And we make friends with people here. and that is good and interesting. Only the day when people here at Q&A don't compliment your circle of friends but have become much more preferred to the "reality" would would I say there is a problem.

Lost sleep isn't a problem. It is waking up the following day when you haven't had enough sleep that is the problem. Same analogy of: Alcohol doesn't cause hangovers, waking up does.
It is one of many advantages to being an adult; nobody will have the authority to ask you to switch off and go to bed.
All best

Yep, got on to check my mail. Then checked my 360. Planning to do some work. Checked my Hotmail account. Checked my 360. Came over to answer a provocative question. Asked a couple of provocative questions. Checked my 360. Checked my Yahoo email. Checked the answers to my questions. By the time that was half done my day was half done too. Oh, well, guess I will get plenty of sleep when I die. . .if I die, that reminds me of a question I was going to ask a couple of weeks ago. I better go post it before I forget it again. . . . . .

That's me in the back of the room raising my hand. I actually turned it off, took a bath and turned it back on for just one thing I had to check.....an hour ago. What is the site address for the 12 step program? They will soon have to post warnings.

YES! Every night! I have come to look more and more forward to coming on here and sharing a laugh with you guys on here as time goes by...I think its because its a chance to get away from the real world and relax rather than worrying about work or laundry or billls...etc. I think Alec the Dalek hit the nail on the head when he to referred to it as "Virtual Heaven".
