(1) it causes Soil erosion.
2. It is main cause of in mountain region. due to this roots can not hold soil firmly
3. Due to deforestration WIND can easily erode the soil
4 due deforestration various gas concentration is increasing fastly & OXYGEN concentration is going down
5. acid rain is increasing which is damaging the OLD monuments LIKE INDIAN TAJ MAHAL
6. LANDSLIDES ARE ALSO PRONE IN MOUNTAINOUS REGION

As a direct consequence the soil is exposed to the weather more directly. It dries earlier. Once dry wind erosion starts - small particles are simply blwon away. When rain falls on the dry ground it cannot get into the ground but runs on the surface taking more soil with it (especially in mountain areas) - water erosion - these effects alone can be dramatical as heavy rains as they happen with thunderstorms etc. can cause landslides.
The soil will also get "poorer" rotting leaves and twigs etc. are natural fertilicers and the living basis for billions of microorganisms which keep the soil "healthy"
The effects of deforestation are clearly seen around the Mediterranian where especially Romans and Venecians have deforested whole regions which show now nothing but blank rocks. In case of rain the rocks cannot take any water, the water runs down the mountains very fast and in huge amounts and is dangerous to the people living in the valleys.
Also the groundwater level can fall which enhences dehydration of the soil with the consequence of more erosion.
Other consequence are the loss of wildlife and the variaty of species and depending on the size of the area changes of the local climate.

1. Desertification
2. Loss of biodiversity as a result of land fragmentation and loss of habitat.
3. If this wood is burned it will increase global warming (greenhouse effect)
4. Decrease of Carbon dioxide absorption which increases pollution and also contributes to the greenhouse effect.
5. evapotranspiration (decrease of atmospheric moisture) water is simply returned to the oceans instead of being recycled to downwind forests.
6. landslides
