Are you one of those guys who urinates on the toilet seat instead of taking the time to put it up?
If so then you know the reason. They don't want to touch that dirty toilet seat any more than you do.
I always use my foot to put up the toilet seat. No germs on my hands!!!
Was that a good enough answer or did you want women to admit that in some cases they would prefer that things not be entirely equal?
It could be worse. I spent two weeks in a third world country where they had no toilet seats on the toilets. You just sit on the bowl! Now that was an experience!

LOL!!! I understand you are turning this back upon the ladies, but think about it. Which is the more disastrous if not noticed, having the seat up or down? The worst that can happen if the seat is down and you don't notice is that you will get drops on it. Here's hoping you'll take a bit of paper and wipe it off. But have you ever heard a yowl from a lady who didn't bother to turn on the light in the bathroom before she sat down and the seat had been left up? Now she will need to jump in the shower!
The absolutely best way is to always put the COVER down, too. Then if there are things stored on the back of the tank or on shelves above the tank, they do not risk falling in. And if you have pets . . . oh, don't even think of it!

I think the point is being missed here, regarding toilet seats. Everybody's arguing about the seat being up or down, but, the truth is, the correct condition for a toilet to be in when it is not in use is with THE LID DOWN. The fact that this automatically includes the seat being down as well is incidental.

Because with the toilet seat down chances are the guy still won't miss, infact he can consider it a challenge, can you hit the smaller hole? But with the toilet seat up, if the girl doesn't notice, chances are 100% she'll fall in and also pretty good she'll get stuck. A little pee around the rim versus the total humiliation of having to yell for someone to yank you out of the toilet? I think I'll keep putting the seat down, it just makes more sense.

Have you ever sat on a toilet with no seat? That can happen if you're in a hurry and don't notice.
Plus, it leaves it easy for any smell to get out.
What about children? Do you want them playing in the toilet water?
Its just a lot nicer to leave it down.

Think about it if u went to the bathroom all the time and didn't have to lift the seat up y would u do so after doing ur business?Also in my opinion bathrooms look beta with the toilet seat down. i don't know what it is they just look beta that way.

I am a woman but have asked this question for years.
Women are so fast to complain about men never putting the seat down but I've ALWAYS said, but we women never put it up for men do we?
It never bothers me either way frankly!
Men were born to keep women 'occupied' I think, dirty socks and clothes on the floor, toilet seats up, toothpaste lids off, cutlery returned to wrong place, trailing mud into the house, leaving dirty pots out, doing half a job in the name of 'helping you', starting something but never finishing it etc etc etc C'est la vie!

Out of respect maybe. Guys tend to put the seat down for the same reason.

..it makes more sense to leave it down for 2 reasons:
There are more women in this world than men.
BOTH women and men can use the toilet with the seat down..

because it's proper manor for the guy to put down the toilet seat for the ladies....
same reason with why ladies go first, things like that.
