I like it! They'll call him Tom anyway.
Here are some other spellings if U'r interested
Thomasson (Lookss kind of Italian/Swedish)
Tomasson, Tommasson (look Italian)
Thomason (looks early American)
Tomason (Spanish version)
Tomisan (Japanese)
Thomson is just fine!
Unless your surname is something like:
Therag, Thebottom, Deraverage, Drugs, Welfare, Theblink,
Derher, Thepot, Thejohn, Theloo, Dejon, etc.
My name is Thomas, I like Tommy, but
they call me Tom or Mr.T or anything short.

Alot of people cant see using a typical last name as a childs first or middle name, but back in the 40's and such thats what almost everyone did so they could keep the names in the family. Using Thomson for your child sounds lovely, you can call him Tom or Tommy for short if you choose. I like the idea of using unusual names that most people dont use, we dont want 6 kids in the same class with the same name. Kudos to you for using an un common name!

Its not bad but personally I prefer last names to stay last names. Also trying "cute" spellings annoys me (no offense) because children have a hard time learning to spell as it is and when their name doesnt follow the "rules" they can get more confused. I think that different spellings can be ok if used appropriatly or if incorporated later in life by the individuals choosing. I have a friend that changed the spelling of her name weekly in highschool. Whats on the birth certificate is the "legal" spelling but a person can use a spelling like a nick name. I deal with having to look people up by names alot and its frustrating for not only me but them as well if its a "new" spelling and it got entered into the system wrong.

Sounds ok, but the son is a bit odd for a surname, but not bad. Although if I were your son and you called me thomson (anyway a weird idea) I'd kill you.

I don't know what your planning on using for the middle name, but if it's similar to the first and last your baby is going to sound like an ad for a law firm. I would go with Thomas if your going for the name Tom or Tommy.

THOMSON will have a very hard time for the rest of his life explaining to EVERYONE, "That's Thomson, with no P" -- exasperating!!!!

He's going to have to say, "with no 'p'" every time he tells his name to somebody. Can you imagine how irritating that is going to be for him? Have a nice, standard first name and put the fancy names in the middle if you want, where he won't have to deal with learning to spell some fancied up name or tell everybody how to spell it all the time.

Sounds good. I think just make sure that the last name works since "thompson" is usually a last name. Nothing too "last name with a last name" sounding, does that make sense?

I think people will mispronounce it, as without the p, it looks like you would pronounce it with the th sound at the beginning. Thom son...rather than tom son.
