yeah..I was with my BF (best friend) her mom came picked me up today. She was wearing super tight jeans and a fitted band shirt...So I was like okayy. She's not thin either maybe about 250-260 but has a really curvy figure and not lots of body fat except on her thighs and hips you know. My BF was so embarassed when we went into Footlocker (a shoe store) and she started flirting with like every guy in there...That was my first time meeting her and she was just disgusting and acted like a desperate teen. She had my BF at 21 so "not living out her teen years" isn't the problem! she's 39 and those guys were like between 18-25!

...We just left her in there and went into other stores in the mall. I was wondering why doesn't it rub off on my Best friend? Shes not like that at all and shes totally shy around guys. Its weird that she hasn't caught on to it. I'm glad she hasn't but still....

i think its because life expectancy these days has increased significantly. This would make 40 the new 30 and so on. Having been virtually given additional years of 'youth' parents these days do not receded into the traditional parental roles any longer. They have a lot more time to reach their goals, start new relationships, and in short..act younger. They will eventually "act like parents" but around the same time their teenagers are long gone.

Well, because many of them ARE teenagers? ( Or were when they had their pup) OR, their parents were that young and that was (is ) their role model? When you are raising a child they will look to you as a model to emulate, and if all you can offer is a whopping 18 years of wisdom and life experience..... OR, our society and culture encourages that through media , advertising, entertainment and publications? just look at all the attention Ms. Hilton just got for breaking the law and going to jail...."Wow,like how cool is THAT! I wanna be like Paris Hilton..."

Cause those kind of parents got married too soon-my brother is married & makes me look like a teen, (he's 29 & I'm 36)-another reason I'm still single & happy I never been married. (p.s.: I'm a teen from the 80's, As of the 90's,-I have no kids that I know of).

They want to fit in. I remember a friend of mine from school's mom always listening to Eminem, and all the music he listened to back in the day. I think it embarasses kids.

My theory:
The teenagers of the 80's never really grew up (it's just sort of a generalization i've heard about that decade), and it just so happens that most of them are now parents of their own teenagers.

you are looking at a new generation of "parents"
there is absolutely nothing wrong with parents trying to act a little younger than their age, as it tends to make them feel young and stay young at heart and in their mind
that way, they would also be able to relate to their children better
