Dear brian,

The ideal situation would be to get KG. If you can get Kobe and KG you can surround them with role players and you'll be contenders and plus in '08 you might be able to attract some free agents with the mid-level exception. If they could get KG than they should add a point guard like a Steve Blake or they may get Troy Hudson since that's one of the contracts that Minnesota would want the Lakers to take along with Marco Jaric (who is basically another Smush Parker).

If you get KG, and Kobe still demands a trade you can still build a contender with KG and whatever you can get for Kobe. Right now you can not get equal value for Kobe. If KG ends up going to Phoenix, you won't trade him there- and plus you wouldn't trade with Phoenix anyhow. Chicago has already said they aren't gutting their team for Kobe, and NY has nothing to offer- so realistically you can't trade Kobe. Besides you can get more value for him next year.

Kobe has threatened to sit a year- and if he wanted to play hardball and i was the Lakers i'd let him walk- but make him sit out two years- he'd be shooting himself in the foot if he did that.

Hopefully they can get KG, and then try to trade for Camby and a point guard. i think Camby would really help and you could have Turiaf to back him up.

If they can't get KG they may have to settle for O'neal although i think Lamar and Bynum is a bit much but at this point- the fans can't accept no changes because we've seen nothing from Laker management in the last 3 plus yrs and as poorly as Kobe has handled this situation- he has pretty much said what everyone else has thought.

i hope somehow the Lakers fix this thing! i'm used to Championships!

Depends how you define best*.
If it is be better now, they need to trade for KG. He would take the presure off Kobe and probably could stand him better than almost anyother superstar in the league. Signing a vet who can stay in good health (so no one like Hill) would also help a lot.
If it is best long term move. Trade Kobe for a young star (Durant would be great, mind you I'm saying best for LA not easiest) and short contracts. This will allow them the time to build for a season or two, create chemistry, and then have room to grab the FA's that would put them in title contention. (And allow the current contenders to age a little)
If it is best to make money keep Kobe and get KG, Marion, Ray Allen, or any other great scorer or big name and hope they mix well while counting the dollars. If it doesn't fire Phil and trade for someone else to help Kobe.

Keep Kobe and trade for someone like KG or Jermaine. Personally, I think it'd be interesting to see Rashard Lewis and Kobe Bryant on the same team.

I'm not being funny but it really depends on whether you're a laker fan or not. If you're not, you'd probably be hoping they do nothing and stick with their current team so they can continue with their poor performance. If you are a fan, I think they should get someone to complement Kobe. KG would be nice but I doubt he'll end up at LA

Waive Kobe and build the team around Smush Parker and Sasha Vujacic.

waive kobe and let the overrated rapists deal on his own. he will end up playing in israel or korea or somewhere in africa. they may have a spot for him in china? let the economic law of supply and demand rate him. he might have to retire.
