This is like a super duper promise....sucks!

Regular promises are hard enough to keep...but "vows"...come now wemen give me a break.

When's the last time you broke a promise?

People can't even keep their new years resolutions...and those are supposed to be "serious" too.

I suppose they should give the man a "heads up" by having the vows read more like this:

I take thee to be my wife, to have and to hold:

1. As often as possible (….please!).
2. Even though you'll look like your mother in 10 years.
3. Even though you'll complain about my mother's mission in life which is to make you miserable.
4. Even though you'll nag, nag, nag, nag, nag….nag!
5. Even though you seem to have done everything very strangely in your family.
6. Even though you'll rearrange my entire wardrobe, throw out all my decent clothes and buy me garish Ties forever more.
7. Even though your poor organization skills mean that you can barely cope with a job, cooking, cleaning, looking after our 2.4 children and ensuring that my dinner is served hot at the table daily.
8. Even though you struggle to fetch my beer when the game is on.
9. Even though you don't seem to understand that putting up a few shelves was not part of my engineering degree syllabus.
10. Even though you don't understand that I think Valentine's Day, Birthdays and Anniversaries are all "retail marketing ploys for the weak-minded".

I do not know about everyone but I personally do not make a promise I cannot keep. That is one big thing in my life. I believe the vows came from the bible. As far as new years resolutions, I usually make small ones like I will try not to take any ones pens this year and yes I try not too.

You sound very upset and hurt right now and for that I am sorry. Maybe if you post what is upsetting you, we can help shed some light or at least you will have gotten it out and that can help too. I wish you well

Resolutions and VOWS are 2 totally seperate promises. You don't make a promise to GOD that you will not eat chocolate or lose 10 pounds. You make a promise to yourself, GOD, and your partner that you will always be with them.

Big difference...

vows are made by the bride and the groom who discuss it before they say it in front of all their family and friends and peers..

Yeah, have a sense of humor about them too. Politicans can't even keep a promise, so why should the rest of us, right?..

remember.. " you have the right to remain silent, anything you say or do will be held against you forever, and ever and ever and ever"...
