breeding pokemon eggs... in pokemon diamond how do you determine the egg type/group it is in?

and i am new to breeding so lie can someone explain which pokemon come from which egg and so on??thanks!

umm you can tell by talking to the old man i think or by the upgrade i havnt got d/p yet but you could look on....
