Why do you have such a poor command of the English language? And to answer your question I think "Liberals" have a very clear understanding. Perhaps you don't understand Ie sometimes you have to admit your army just isn't big enough or you seriously underestimated your enemy or lowering taxes and increasing spending is a surefire way to bankruptcy. Oh that's right we're there already. How about I have record profits but I pay no tax thanks to my lobbyist. My personal favorite: life is precious so I'm anti-abortion but I endorse the death penalty. How about a leader that is anti-gay marriage but pro civil union and Gay. Shall I go on? Liberals didn't ruin America 6 years of Republican rule did. All others ie "Liberals" were shouted down!! Consider yourself schooled and watch something other than Fox and Glenn Beck

This problem exists in people of all political allegiances. I'm not saying no one group is more ignorant or smarter than another; I've not measured nor heard of objective survey results on this question. However, many topics in the realm of public debate are complex and many solutions for problems, offered by political people, are very incomplete. When someone whose style of problem presentation you like proposes a solution, thought it's incomplete, it is very tempting to say "I like so-and-so's solution" because you like that person or the way they frame the problem and what they claim molded their solution. Everyone (or almost everyone) can agree on what are our society's problems. Each person with a political agenda can be counted on to emphasize their favorite values, and ignore the factors they feel should be ignored. If they are conscious of what they've done, they're likely to lie in their presentation and exaggerate the good points in their solution. Many political people are ignorant of what they've ignored because they tend to discuss and "come together" with people they like to hang with, NOT the people who bring fresh ideas to the discussion. Many people get rankled when having an honest discussion with people of a different philosophy. Politicians often forget that correct solutions are not easy, but compromise produces mainly easy solutions. For some reason politicians are afraid that once a person is offended or disagreed with, they can never fix that or win them over on another occasion.
In addition to these factors shaping public discourse that includes politicians, people of lesser influence are not aware of (1) how many relevant facts have been hidden from them by public figures, (2) how often they let their feelings override their reason, (3) how often people who have their trust, like teachers, push a point of view and neglect a different or opposing point of view. This last process occurs a lot in schools where conformity and getting along (groupthink), and compromise are stressed (public/government schools), and not so much in schools where thorough analysis, proofs, the scientific method, and correct results are stressed (private schools).
In other words, if you've let yourself be influenced by public speakers and less by your own reason, you may be among those people with poor understanding! It's true that exercising your own reason and coming up with bold answers to the big questions may require a lot of education (which can be gotten from books), but at least you and others who work on themselves won't be led around by the nose.
Feelings should guide you to identify the important issues, but reason (preferably yours) should guide you to identify the actions to take. Look out for "leaders" who try to mix up these motivators. Their tricks will be: choosing issues based upon heaps of numbers that you "should" worry about, and choosing actions to take by what "feels" right. That would be backwards, but watch those "public figures" and see if they don't do exactly that.

Interesting phrasology: not ACTUAL liberals, but people LIKE liberals.
I'd say that liberals understand a lot more than you do. You see, liberals HAVE to understand things better. We don't have a dozen bombastic talking heads to tell us what to think, so we have to actually think for ourselves. You should try it some time, if you can take a few minutes off from asking spurious questions on all-encompassing deficits of progressive comprehension.
Or do you not understand those words?

Yes, gross generalizations. That's always the sign of a sophisticated mind a work. Try including some specifics or examples if you want to make an intelligent point. If you just want to call names go some place else and do it because that's not asking a question.

Oh what a magnificent question.
My guess is they actually understand it a lot better than you. Hence they do not need to oversimplify everything with daft generalisations.

It is better than NO understanding, like you! What you mean is you don't agree with them so that makes THEIR understanding poor.
It is you neocons who come on here and lie more than any other group! Must be Fox news!

Its because you are very egotistical and selfish, liberals are just the opposite therefore they see everything from the altruistic perspective as you see things from a selfish egotistical perspective......Now do you understand?
