Yes, they can drink if they are over 21. It just depends on how they act when they drink or if they say and do things while drunk. How often have you heard of players getting into fights at clubs, strip joints, and throwing people through windows at bars. Athletes are people too, sometimes they like to just kick back and have a cold one also.

they sure are, I've served it and bought drinks for a few nba players (mavs and spurs). A lot of them choose not to drink during and a bot before the season to stay in and get in shape.

Yes, and alcohol helps them become MVPs.
Take Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki for exmapl
the past MVPs of the NBA they drank so much
that they were way better than the rest..

Of course they are allowed to drink if they are above the of 21. But its the stuff they do while they're drunk that worries people.
