Get the Civic.
Its cheaper by alot compared to the Mini.
The insurance will be cheaper.
More common so if you need to take to the shop or something breaks, there's always parts or ppl who specializes in Japanese cars.
Its more economical and gas saving.
Corolla's would be next on my list.
Not only that, these two cars are easy to learn to drive on.

I drive for a living 5 days a week about 4 to 5 hours each day. I put a heck of a lot of stress on my vehicle. I bought a brand new 2004 honda accord LX V6 3 years ago. I just recently went over 100,000 miles and the car runs JUST LIKE NEW.
The interior is very quiet, the 240 horsepower still gets me up and running quickly, shocks work beautifully, everything is original on the car except tires, wipers, and I changed the air filter to K&N, and I switched oil to synthetic.
If safety, reliability, resale value, and power mean anything to you, I would recommend a V6 Accord.
I never knew how a well built car should run until I bought this one.

A new Civic or Corolla is likely your best choice. If you get them with just the basic luxuries(auto, air, etc)...they are pretty affordable.
The Mini's will cost you more. They have the "cool' factor going and there are less of them around. The dealers aren't likely to make great deals.
Good luck in your hunt.

Dont' buy anything European, no matter how good a deal it seems. Stick with a used Honda or Toyota, or even a Hyundai. High mileage, as long as the vehicle was well taken care of, is ok. I blog about cars every week at myspace.com/the_motorcycle_man, so check it out for more car tips.

Umm.. what year are you thinking? You have to be specific on what year you are wanting to buy. If you want a non expensive car it will most likely have to be a junker. If you want something decent that runs good, you're looking at probably around $2000 lowest. And a newish civic in good shape and used will probably run around $7000. Brand new civic will be around $16,000.

I would get the Civic. Honda's a great cars. Change their oil and do maintenance and they last you almost forever. Toyota's are great too. The Corolla is a cheap car and they are just as good as the Honda's or better.

civic is about 14,000
mini cooper is about 23,000--maybe
using google will get accurate results, but these are some prices i can remember from ads in the newspaper.
try looking at the ford focus, which might be under 10,000 or toyota yaris,

If you crash the mini you will probably be injured. I would get the civic. You can also try a monte carlo, impala, eclipse and mustang.
