I think they are just back tracking to cover their own guilt.

Either that or they are selfish cowards who can only pick on innocent babies.

A fetus as hands, fingers, and toes at just ten weeks.

Look at www.abortiontv.com and look at pictures of slaughtered babies and then tell me what you think.

Bears N angels you really make me sick. The life you are killing is not your body. Its your childs body. Women like you make me sick. Women should stick up for their children. Not condem them to death.
And another thing. If I was raped I would definitly not be a puss and murder my child.

BarB you a are sick sad women. What if your parents had aborted you? You obviously dont have children. Because you obviously dont know the joys that a child can bring in to your life. I pray that selfish people like yourself will someday come to their senses.

It is really sad. Unfortunately a portion of this society has no sense of responsibility. They have been coddled and fooled into the notion that "it's better to kill it than to have it grow up in an unloved environment... or in an environment where it can't be economically cared for" . They call the baby "it" to emotionally detach themselves. They freely admit in these statements that they are incapable of loving or caring for anything aside from themselves. They are cowards. They are selfish. It is ALL about them. Real Adults and REAL parents make sacrifices for their children.

It's a pitiful excuse to "shirk" the responsibilities of their own actions.

And yes... you will get the crowd that talks about rape, incest and the health of the mother... which I agree that there could be some cases where HEAVY requirements would have to be put in place, such as charges pressed against the offender or a doctors note specifically requesting with irrefutable proof of endangering the life of the mother. But they LOVE to bring these issues up as if it justifies the 90% of abortions performed as birth control.

One thing they don't tell these women who "have the right to choose" is how they will feel later on when they finally discover they may have a heart. I feel for them, I really do.

*edit* BTW... I love how some of the answers are claiming that it is not about abortion... but about choices, (yet the "choice" always leads to abortion) and the government "controlling" their Bodies. Oh please... women have the right to CLOSE THEIR LEGS... USE BIRTH CONTROL... TAKE RESPONSIBILITY... And as far as the government goes... they would do nothing to your lifestyle, or your eating habits or which doctor to see or the activities you can do or anything unless you choose to murder the baby. Can I just kill someone who might inconvenience me? The only thing they might lose is their figure and their lifestyle.

So, there was this Navy Wife I read about, who became pregnant, but about 3 months in, the doctors realized that the fetus was not developing properly, there was no brain stem, and while the rest of the body was growing... there was no possibility for life outside of the womb.

Now, the Navy insurance plan refused to pay for an abortion of this baby... so for 6 more months, she had to wait & watch her belly grow & answer questions about how she isn't going to have a child when every thing is done & be forced to mourn her miscarriage of months before she is even able to have it.

The reason behind her being denied an abortion was because abortion is wrong & immoral. I have no idea how it could be wrong in this case, as there is no chance of survivability for the baby, and the continued pregnancy only causes heartache & pain for the parents & family.

So, there are very good medical reasons for abortion to be necessary, and I for one am pro-choice because there is no way to stop abortions from happening. No way to stop it! If we make it illegal, this only results in back-alley abortions & many many women dying and being taken advantage of.
Birth control & abstinence is my preference over abortion, but if a woman wants one, she's going to have it... but if it's illegal, she'll probably pay all her savings to some crook that ends up killing her or causing infertility for the future.

We need to spend much more time educating kids about sex & birth control, along with abstinence.
This abstinence only education is doing nothing but harm!

The results from the latest poll was on the news last week. The number one reason for on demand abortion is inconvenience. The least of the reasons was the health of the mother. When does the child get a say in the matter. When a woman becomes pregnant it is no longer her body, it is their body. The Supreme Court upheld the legal "right" to an abortion, there is no guarantee in the Constitution to an abortion. Do we not deny the child it's Constitutional rights to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness". I can think of no greater joy than holding a baby in your arms. I have wondered how many of the 44 million abortions we have allowed, if one of those children might have been the one that came up with a cure for cancer or something to benefit mankind. This is America's genocide.

They want to justify their actions.
The facts are:
A fetus cannot survive on its own, that is true. And a pregnancy before 6 months is quickening and considered 'coming into life' but not alive.
However, a full skeleton, developed brain, and heartbeat at less than 3 months is definately potential life.
But they will swear they should not have to know this.

They feel they should be able to make responsible decisions for their own body, which is true. BUT they won't take responsibility in a way that they will know what they are doing, by viewing their own ultrasound. That is hippocritical.

Pro-life people are also hippocrites because they fight for fetuses, yet blow up abortion clinics and kill or beat up people for giving abortions. So that makes not sense either.

I am in the middle on the issue, I just think they are both wrong because it is not a black and white issue. There are gray areas as well.

Based on how you phrased the question, I'm pretty sure you're not looking for an answer so much as a reaction, but here's some of what I think about around the issue of abortion.

Throughout history, different cultures have defined the begining of life differently- often these differences were/are rooted in their experiences and available technology. Some cultures refer to "quickening," or the first time a pregnant women feels her baby move, as the beginning of life. Some see birth as the obvious event. Others don't perceive babies as fully of this world until they are one or two years old- they may be constantly held in someone's arms so their feet don't touch the ground and given no name because they are still intermediaries to heaven. Some cultures (I'm guessing this is your's) see conception as the beginning of life. Others may see implantation as the true begining of pregnancy. Some even mark the begining of a new life as the parents' looking into each others eyes for the first time. So there's a lot of variety, and I'm not convinced any one understanding of this great mystery is more true than another.

I also think about the difficulties in women's lives- difficulties that I have never had to face. I've never been addicted to drugs. I've never had to worry about where my next meal is coming from. I've never had to wonder how I can hide a pregnancy from my father so he won't beat me to death. I've never had a disease that forced me to choose between a pregnancy and my own health and safety. I've never had to raise five children. I've never been raped.

I believe that abortion is a sad thing- a difficult choice to make. But I do believe there are situations in which it is justified- in which it is the best we can do. And since it is sometimes justified, we have to ask who gets to say when it is justified and when it isn't. Who should have the power and responsibility for such a decision?

I really think that the only one who knows the situation well enough is the pregnant woman herself. She knows what she can and can't handle- she may base her decision on certain advisors, like doctors or her mother or her spouse or God, but I really don't think that the government should be involved in her decision other than to protect her right to make it.

I hope this helps you to understand my perspective somewhat. I do try to understand yours- if you truly believe that abortion is murder, how could you behave other than how you do? Doing everything in your power to change people's minds and stop it? But please, don't belittle my thoughts on this. It is not guilt or selfishness or evil that guides my thoughts on this issue, but an honest attempt to find a just solution for unjust situations.

Thank you for your question.

I am pro choice and i would never have an abortion but i do believe in freedom. Are you willing to adopt some of these children? Take the mother into you home until she delivers? I did not think so. We all pay the price of our decisions ,but it a freedom we have and should not loose. This effects mostly young poor girls. People that use it as a birth control and the rick will have them no matter what the law is.Marilyn Monroe had 6 abortions and it was indeed illegal then.

Why would a pro-choice person find abortion acceptable?

1. Most pro-choice people do not see the fetus as a person early during the pregnancy, since it would not survive if born.

2. For many it is about freedom to make decisions regarding their own body.

3. For others it may be about empowerment for women in general.

4. Most pro-choice people do not want women to automatically have an abortion, but do want women to have the option. They may not push an abortion on a woman, but do believe that women should have the ability to make the choice.

5. They may believe that it would be better for a child not to be born than to be born into a family situation that is not ideal.

6. Abortions are going to happen regardless of whether or not they are legal. Many feel that they should be legal to prevent the dangerous and illegal abortions from being done, since many women would be severely injured and die from poorly done abortions.

There are other reasons I am sure, but these are a few I could think of off the top of my head.

I think that anyone who deliberately murders a baby for any reason should then not have a right to complain about anything they find wrong with anyone else or with the world in general.
How can they fight to abolish the death penalty if they themselves kill their own children before they've had a chance to be born and are innocent of any wrong doing?
How can they complain about the war and cry about all the people who have died since it started if they themselves kill their own babies?
How can they have an opinion about anything that they find wrong after they themselves have killed an innocent infant?

Before I had a child of my own and realized that each and every single person matters because of what my son has taught me about life I thought that abortion was OK because I didn't realize that the unborn child was a person too.
But upon becoming pregnant and feeling my own baby grow and move inside of me and actually feeling his soul as one with mine I realized how wrong I was in thinking that unborn babies were only things without any importance.
After I had my son I knew him and he knew me,it wasn't like we were strangers that had to get to know eachother.

My son has taught me so much and I'm so grateful I didn't abort him and end his life because I didn't know any better.
And I'm grateful to God that gave me another chance to make the right decision and showed me how wrong I was before.
I only pray that others will too.
But until then how can they complain about anything or feel outrage about anything when they themselves are condoning the murder of so many innocent babies?

I agree with pro-choice when the following occur

* Rape
* Incest
* The mother will die if she delivers the baby. (Personally I would have the baby knowing that I have a fantastic family that would give excellent care to the baby should I die)

Abortion is not a method of birth control.

Objections to abortion (BTW, I DON'T approve of abortion) are religious in nature. And no one has the right to impose their religious beliefs on those who don't share them.

But I have a lot more respect for someone who is pro-choice than someone who thinks its okay to call people ugly names just because they don't share the same religious doctrine. And Christ woud agree with me, I think--read the whole story of the Good Samaritan.
