What is the definition of perturbed?

I often wake up with words in my head (wierd i Know) and todays word is perturbed. I think because I must be feeling this way and am curious as to the exact definition. I don't have a dictionary.

to be afraid and confused and upset at the same time is called being perturbed.
eg
yesterday i saw a suspicious man with a knife in his hand...i was greatly perturbed.
my cousin often walks in her sleep.this has been perturbing her parents a great deal.
