I bought a 98 Grand Am from a lil old lady a couple of weeks ago. She said it was "perfect". I test drove it, seemed alright. Stopped good, started right up son on and so forth, so I bought it. Now here we are. I took it to a shop, they looked at it and told me that they "Have no idea. Never seen anything like it." This is a typical day driving my "perfect" car. I start it up, it purrs like a kitten. A minimum of 10 minutes into the drive it makes this wining noise and when the wining goes away, it cuts off. Just dies. So I will start it again, no problems. Drive like 2 more minutes, same thing. Any more driving after the second time it cuts off, it just wont start. I have to pull over and let it sit for at least 20 minutes, just to have it do the same thing over and over. The temperature gauge says the engine is not hot. I replaced the fuel filter. Oil change.... Thermostat is ok, according to the guy at Auto Zone. Please help me and my lemon..its all i have right now!

Hi buddy,

DOnt worry. From your question i think it wil be mostly the problem of power supply. It may be in alternator, battery or the capacitors,Sparkplugs,HT wires connecting the distributor to sparkplug.Pls ask a electrical guy to check for the above.A short circuit to the body may also lead to these kind of problems.

sounds like it may be running off the battery untill its drained then dies so you may want to have the altanator checked
