I was told that a girl I am dating had a miscarriage after being pregnant less than 2 weeks. I strongly suspect she is lying because I told her I didn't want to see her anymore. What is the earliest a girl can tell if she is having a miscarriage versus a bad period? I need sources, please.

It's almost impossible to discern between a miscarriage and heavy period at two weeks. Most pregnancy tests can't even reliably detect pregnancy hormones until at least the day a girl's period is due. While some tests can be taken four days BEFORE a girl is expecting her period, in those cases, the tests have an error rate of 30%, and aren't reliable. On the day a period is due, or the day after, the reliability of the results go up to 99%.
Now, please note: When a girl has missed her period, at that point she is approximately two weeks pregnant. So, if she has her period . . . how does she reliably know she was pregnant?

Well I'm experiencing a miscarriage as we speak, I was told at a hospital appointment that I was around 2 weeks pregnant & now almost a week later after bleeding cramping etc I am no longer showing up as pregnant! I have miscarried at 12 weeks before and i also have a 5 year old son and no matter how far gone you are, if you know you know & the emotional pain isnt any less according. I know the difference between a miscarriage, a period & a healthy pregnancy!
Tbh you sound like an inconsiderate ****** so you breaking up with this girl is a blessing in disguise!

If it's a 24 hour vet google the number and call them ASAP. There is probably someone there that can come get the cat and carry on from there. This definitely can't wait a couple of hours because too much blood loss in an animal that small could be fatal. Not only that I'm not an expert on how kitty miscarriages go but if she doesn't get the proper care she could get an infection or the babies inside of her may be living as a parasite and sucking all her nutrients out of her (even though they are not alive, it happens) SO best advice, call asap, get that cat to the vet NOW. And if you can you should update. I wanna know if kitty is okay :(

Considering I am two weeks pregnant and I am three days into my miscarriage. And I know I am having one. I am not trying to trap my HUSBAND. There is a difference. Plus not to mention I have two kids and I knew right away that I was pregnant. Even before both tests came up positive. So she might not be lying. People are so quick to judge! Your breaking up with her anyways and its not like she was try to say that you guys were having a baby so I don't see why all this is relevant. You weren't going to talk to her again anyways so I think your just being a dick over something that doesn't matter. Some girls get really upset that they lost a baby so grow up and move on

She wouldn't know she was having a miscarriage at 2 weeks. She would have thought it was a late or early period.
She was lying. For some women it won't even show up on a home pregnancy test until there 3 weeks pregnant. Personal exerience. With both my kids, it didn't show up until 3 weeks after my missed period.
I would say the earliest a girl would know she was having a miscarriage would be at around 4-5 weeks.

She could tell 2 weeks after conception, if she had taken an early response pregnancy test before her period was due, and then she started bleeding, and afterward the test was negative. But honestly, if she doesn't go to the doctor while having this supposed miscarriage, I wouldn't believe her. A miscarriage is a medical emergency and should be seen by a professional or else she has a risk of infection and possible infertility. So try to take her to the doctor or hospital...if she won't go, she's full of it.

She probably wouldn't have known that she had a miscarriage. A miscarriage that early on would have just seemed like a heavier period. That's why doctor's say a lot of miscarriages go undocumented because women don't even know they are pregnant a lot of times when they have them.
