record the time they start, the time they end, and how long until the next one starts. Ex; first contraction 12;00, lasted 45 sec. 2nd contraction 12:07, 60 sec ect...

Put down the time it starts and the time it ends. Most women as their labor progresses have contractions closer together and longer.
Also, you might see an interesting pattern in your contractions
My last baby I had two contractions five minutes apart, then one contraction 20 minutes later, then another two contraction five minutes apart. Then 20 minutes later a contraction, then two contractions five minutes apart. I was in labor with a strange patter, but non the less it was labor.
Also the timming isn't exact. if you wait for exact tmming you might not make it to the hospital
For instance. a contraction 5 minutes apart, the next one 5 minutes and 30 seconds, then 6 minutes then 5 minutes
Then 5 minuter and 10 seconds
You do the timming from the end of the contraction before.
good luck

For me it has not been easy.. I am kind of in a constant pain like dull menstral cramps so it is hard to say when they really "start" and "end" but as it has progressed I feel the pain kind of grips me.. (that is the best way I can describe it) for me it starts in my back and wraps around to the front and my belly actually does get harder while I am having the contraction.
I am 37 weeks with baby #3.. I have been in pre-term labor for about a month and already dialated to 4.. I should have him/her anyday now.. but still it is hard to actually time the contractions..
I just try to pay attention to how frequent I am having them, I know with my 1st daughter I went to the hospital when I could not really just relax thru the contraction. I am not sure how "far apart" they were but I knew it was time.. .
Best of luck & Congratulations!!
