All the Pretty Little Horses was my favorite. I also really loved the Poky Little Puppy. I read The Twany Scrawny Lion quite a bit myself. Do you remember The Saggy Baggy Elephant? I loved Little Golden Books.

Grimm's Fairy Tales. I was also a big fan of Little Golden Books. I had a huge collection. I did read The Tawny Scrawny Lion. Now, my daughter enjoys it along with Goodnight Gorilla and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

ooh, good question! I read many little golden books, but never that one. And I made sure to buy some little golden books for my son recently.. a few that I had like "My Little Golden Book About God" (and I'm not particularly religious but that is a beautiful book) "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" and "The Pokey Little Puppy." Plus one I never had, "My First Counting Book."

One of my favorite books was, "The Animals Who Changed Their Colors" by Pascale Allamand. In this charming story, The polar bear, whale, tortoise, and two crocodiles try to imitate the parrot's beautiful colors, only to discover how impractical they are.

I had several other favorite books, but can't get my poor memory to work for it right now... >.<

BTW, Kozmik_terra's answer is wonderful, and Watership Down the movie was my favorite movie as a child (and honestly, it's still my fav animated movie of all time).. But I never knew it was a book too... *scurries off to the library*

The Monster At The End Of This Book.

It was one of those Golden Books about Grover from Sesame Street who was so scared because there was a monster at the end of the book. He tried everything to keep you from turning the pages...it turns out that HE is the monster.

I've had a few: Ali Baba, Han Solo at Stars' End, Isaac Asimov's robot novels, The Peanut Butter Solution. All good reads.

That's difficult I've read so much, esp. as a child. I do remember enjoying the VC Andrews books ( Flowers in the Attic) because they were on a forbidden shelf and had to sneak them. ( hindsight though pretty racy stuff for a ten year old girl to read)
