He had to apologize. At the time of yesterday's tribute, no one knew all the details. It has now been confirmed by police investigators that Chris Benoit was responsible for the death of his innocent wife and child.
McMahon has to be responsible for airing a show that was basically a tribute to a murderer. I know how bad that sounds and nobody (especially me) wants to believe that it happened, but the facts are the facts.
If he didn't apologize, he would get slammed by every media outlet in the world for praising a man who murdered his wife and son. Whatever the reasons for it, there is no excuse for what he did and as much as I respected Chris for what he did in the ring, it's just not right to honor him after his cold-hearted and selfish actions.
Fans of Chris Benoit indeed loved him for who he was to us. Now, unfortunately, he will forever be remembered as a man who committed a horrible act. That will never go away, no matter how talented the man was.

Vince feels guilty for playing death games. Some people are lashing out at Benoit as a monster, but I think he was in a fit of roid rage to do something this horrible...He wasn't in his right mind and didn't know what he was doing. Maybe he didn't really do it.

I agree, he doesn't deserve to be recognized as a hero.
I f he had died in other circumstances, then sure go ahead and pay tribute. But Nobody should pay tribute to anyone that has the guts to kill a child, his own child. Mr. McMahon is right to not wanting to pay tribute after learning how everything happened, and about faking his death...Come on! This type of plots have been going on for years, everyone knows that this is a show. My husband calls it his "Soap Opera" !!!!
I am sorry for all the fans of Mr. Benoit, sorry that he let you down, he was a great wrestler but not for that we will forget what he did in the end.
Just my opinion.

I think what he said on ECW was right, they didnt know the facts when the tribute aired. Yes he was a great wrestler but he killed his family- a little 7 yr old boy who looked up to his dad for guidence, support and love killed him. That's horrible. WWE wanted to make sure that everyone knew that the tribute was done b4 all was known.

Vince tried to go out with a bang sometime ago, but his plan got screwed up...He tries again this time, things backfired. Instead of going out with a 'bang'---should be going out wearing a 'BAG' over his head that says 'Time for change/ MYSTERIOUS new president'...
