With Chauncy Billups a free agent why isn't anyone talking about him going to the Lakers. It would fill a huge gap in the Lakers offense and could possibly be the answer they are looking for to keep Kobe happy.

Because Chauncey Billups is looking for a max deal contract and he probably gets it on detroit.

The Lakers don't have that kind of money. It's true that Chauncey Billups is the kind of players that fit in triangle but he's still wanted to be a piston.

Dear marq,

The reason is because the Lakers are already over the Luxury tax which means the most they can offer Chauncey is the mid-level exception (the avg. income salary in the NBA- which is between 5 to 6 million).

Chauncey opted out - so that some team could offer him a lot more money than what he's making right now- and then the Pistons could match that offer and he could basically restructure a deal with them to get paid what he's worth because when he first signed with them- he wasn't as good as he is now.

Now if the Lakers could land another superstar like KG- you might see someone like Chauncey take a paycut and then the Lakers could restructure a deal down the road- to pay him a bit more and he may take that chance to win a title.

Go Lakers! Please fix this thing...

there looking to K G first. He is the best thing for the Lakers right now. Billups is good but they need a good big man. Besides they dont have enough players to make both trades.

Two main reasons, Billups wouldn't make them much better than they were last season. Secondly, they don't have any cap space.
