ONly in some places, like the place we ate dinner tonight. It was so dark, it took 5 minutes for my eyes to adjust, and then when we went ourside after dinner, we were blinded! Temporarily, of course.

The waiter brought me a little flashlight the other day when I singed the menu trying to read by the little candle burning on the table. Yeah - it may be a sexy ambience, but when you're looking forward to dinner, it's nice to be able to read the menu.

I agree, hard to read menus in places with that much ambiance, not to mention cost of food that are in small portions and have to dress up for.
I go to places that serve great food, reasonable prices, great lighting, and I can wear my jeans. I like to comfortable while eating and not put on airs.
Nice steak or roast beef with mashed potatoes & gravy, veggie, warm rolls oozing butterand a Chocolate dessert.
Hungry yet?

Yep. Been there before. And I'm still in my early twenties, so it really shouldn't be age. I've tried to use the candles on the tables. They're pretty good at giving light when you get three or four on the table.

Sometimes, yes. Try to sit next to the light or a lamp. Or ask the waiter for the specials or suggestions as to what to order, depending on what you feel like eating.

Yes, I certainly do have problems reading the menu in low light. It has taught me that I can be stubborn and vain. It takes hunger to make me put on my glasses. I am slowly learning that I truly am aging! :-)

Actually in resturants with low lighting, I have trouble getting to the table, finding utensils, and knowing what kind of food they actually are brining me. So lesson here, stay out of those places, go to well lit places with loud music!

It's not just the menu - I can't see the food as well! Maybe they do it to hide the badly prepared food - !

Trouble reading in low lighting is a sign of aging.
Sorry.
