Yup. Study hard and buy some test-prep books.

But just as importantly, sleep well and eat a good breakfast on the day of the test. That may sound stupid, but simple endurance matters more on the GRE than on most tests. It's just a *long* test. You're sitting in a chair for hours, filling in bubble after bubble, and you'll lose focus if you don't have enough energy.

Above all, take a timed practice GRE test (some test-prep books have these), because that's the only way you'll get a good feel for how you'll need to pace yourself. This testing situation is different from any you've been in before, so find something that is as close to the real thing as you can get.

It's not so terrible when you properly study. I highly recommend the Princeton Review. I took the test 3 times, then bought that book, studied it instead and brought my score up over 100 points, and finally passed it :)

Yes it is! It is the hardest test I have ever taken. You need to be good at math and have a great vocabulary.
