In the same condition as it was when you let me borrow it!!
I at least take the car back with the same amount of gas it had in it when I borrowed it, if not a full tank of gas (depending on gas $ now though) and sometimes if the car is dirty, I will wash it or have it washed!

Better than you lent it to me in. I would clean it, fill it up, and make sure it was in the same or better condition as when you let me borrow it. So, can I have the keys now?

Clean inside, possibly dusty (from the road construction which I have to pass through to get home) outside, but with a full tank of gas and probably a gas card as a thank you.

Better than when you even gave me. I would fill up your tank...wash your car, wax it...vaccum it. I do this when I borrow my friend's car...as a "thank you" gesture.

Cleaner that ever on the inside, but all crapped up on the outside, since I don't drive.

It would have an "iF yoU C Kay, tell her I said Hi!" bumper sticker on it, and the change would be gone from the center console.
