Now I have purchased a long VGA cable so that I am able to watch the movies I have on my computer on my Tv. Also I am able to utilize my 5.1 pc speakers when doing this. My question is, would the quality be noticeably better If I were to use a long DVI cable as apposed to the Analog?

We need to know what kind of TV your using.

The Digital Visual Interface (DVI) is a video interface standard designed to MAXIMIZE the visual quality of digital display devices such as flat panel LCD computer displays and digital projectors.

unless you have one of those, then it probably won't make to much of difference.

I still assume there wouldn't be a HUGE improvement though.

The only thing that will effect it much is the compression quality or the movie

I have a CRT TV and use component video out (RCA)
I love it.
even if my movies aren't the greatest compression, the TV tends to kinda blur the pixels, so the obvious pixelation and jittering of poor compression fades away.

ALTHOUGH! if you return the long vga and get a long dvi. then you can use your regular vga for your computer monitor, and the dvi for the TV and then be able to use two desktops at once.

you could watch a movie and surf the net at the same time on two different screens! Its great!

5.1 works great too. but be sure your video player app supports 5.1

No. It shouldn't affect the picture no matter how long the cable is.
