I think it is the cost of doing business.

How can they destroy your credit? You have a right to object to any entry on your credit report and to have it removed if not valid. If they try to say "its our policy" you can ask where in state law does it allow that to happen.

You might contact the Tenant's Union in your town and let them guide you on this. If you didn't leave the place clean and/or repaired, that meant they couldn't rent it even if they had someone who wanted the place right away so it sounds possible.

When you move out, always clean the place before you leave so they can't come back on you later and charge you for the cleaning they had to do or hire done. Some places charge and others don't so make sure you understand what the lease says before you sign on the dotted line.

Talking about that's the cost of doing business........Why didn't you take care of the people's property like you would your own? How would you feel if someone had done that to you. I am sure they rented you a nice, clean place. The minor repair are not too bad but you left rubbish for them to clean. Karma is a *****!!!!

What excuse do they give you for the bill of one week's rent? Demand answers. "Pay up or else" is not an answer.

You can either pay it or not. Failing to pay it will damage your credit rating. You can always pay then sue them to get your money back if you think it is unjust and worth the time & effort.

if you did a contract yes, look at you move in policy's, also did you pay a deposit, these things go on and on in these matters.
