I found a dead cockroach in my kitchen floor this morning before I left for work. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to clean it up. I'm home now and I see that the cockroach is gone. Where could it have gone to? I know I wasn't hallucinating. It was there this morning on its back and it wasn't moving so I assumed it was dead. Unless it was playing dead... can they do that???

well, roaches can fly-ooh, I remember the first time I saw one fly. I just couldn't believe it, so it makes since to me that a roach which will eat anything--will eat another roach, or maybe a spider did. It could have been staying very, very still. That is what they do, when they know someone sees them----thats it.
Time to have the house sprayed. I am next week. They carry so many diseases.

It may have been carried off by his fellow cockroach. Hey, it's just a thought. It may not have been dead due to being upside down. Call the Terminix man, so he can get rid of these nasty creatures.

YES they can. Just 20 min ago i had one in my kitchen. I was trying to push him to walk on a paper towel as i wanted to save him (drop him outside). He completely stopped moving and curled his legs under his body. All you could see was the shell. It was fascinating. I dropped him outside and immediately the legs came back out and he started walking normally again. Didnt know they could do this - how clever!

It may have been stunned, but I'm betting some other cockroaches got to it.
