Ducks and geese are very social birds and look for other birds like themselves to show the area is good for feeding and resting---put some decoys out and make sure the pond has natural food and shelter available to them---local Audubon Society can give you tips on what plants or vegetation to plant to keep them returning. We feed a pair in our backyard cracked corn and they come back everyday during spring and early summer---we're about 2 blocks away from a park pond in a city.

ducks don't mind decoys at first but tend to move away after a while, spread some cracked corn on the shore for them to see easily they have great eyes, and tend to feed in the early am and roost in a safe pond at night. we have a large pond also and attracted a large group of ducks and geese that have stayed around and even nested for years raising new broods every year. just don't feed them when you see them, spread the feed out when you know they are not around.

another way we tried was to buy some small ducklings at the local feed store and raised them to 4-5 months old then turned them out with clipped wings as to limit their flight so they hang around longer and if fed well they won't have a reason to leave.
1-50lb sack of cracked corn $7.00
1- small 2wk old duckling $1.50 ea
not a bad deal if you like pretty ducks hanging around.
P.S. NEVER NEVER NEVER feed them close to the house
they will really mess up a yard and porches and you wont get them to stop so please heed this, especially if you have any girls in your house they love to feed them close and ohh man trouble starts.
