I think he killed his wife by accident, possibly in a roid rage. May have killed his son trying to get rid of a witness. Then ended up killing himself after realizing what he had done.

We all know that he was on steroids. I believe that roid rage played a part but there was probably a spark that fueled the fire. Maybe his wife was going to leave him so he killed her in a rage. Then killed his son so that in his mind he was saving him from having to grow up knowing that his father killed his mother. Then out of guilt killed himself. I was a criminology major and all I can honestly tell you is that we will never know because he is dead. But to stay in a house with the bodies of your wife and son for an extended period of time screams mental instability. The human mind is fragile no matter how strong someone thinks their psyche is everyone has a trigger. Or maybe Vince had it done to silence him about something that he knew and was going to bring to light.

Theories will depend on the autopsy and toxicology reports. From what has been released, I am expecting the toxicology reports to show some form of steroids and some form of heavy duty painkillers (e.g. oxycodone). The combination of rage and depression that would contribute to what appears to have happened would be a side effect of those type of substances which have unfortunately become too common in the wrestling business (and in the real world as well).

Well, it seems that he and his wife and son died over the span of a couple of days, which punches holes in the "'roid rage" theory.
Personally, I think Benoit might have ticked off the wrong person and got suicided. These things do happen...for example, the Clinton death list.

think he did it.
the only thing that might make sense is far fetched, but here it goes....
Somebody that REALLY HATES benoit, breaks into his house and takes benoit down, and ties him up. goes to the wifes room and murders her. kills the kid the next day, and finally kills benoit a day later.
leaves him "hanging" and makes it look like a double murder suicide.
But the cold hard truth is that he was not only a rabid wolverine, he was a vicious cold hearted murderer

I think he was a closet abuser and he took it too far. He then killed his son and himself, because he knew he would rot in jail. Now he is rotting in hell. I have no sympathy for anyone who commits murder and then suicide. My sympathy lies with the poor people left behind to wonder why. Not to mention the little one who will never experience life as he was ment to.

Steroids, any drug will mess up the brain. Also, it can't be easy living the life of a pro wrestler, on the road for so long, away from their family. Losing friends who you have worked with. All these things, and more, can add up to an emotional tool and steroids could have thrown him over the edge.

He did it...but not because he is a bad person...because he was taking steroids, and was in a fit of roid rage...He wasn't aware of what he was doing...
...and to those that don't understand roid rage, it can last for days, much like a hangover...

I think his wife was gonna leave him. The news made him spaz out. To keep her from leaving he hogtied and she may have been resisting him and he killed her. No clue as to why he would think of killing his son. He killed himself to keep from going to jail.
