Did you check the minimum/recommended system requirements on the website?

Only if you like seeing every third frame. My dad recently retired and wanted to mess with some PC games. He called me up after he had purchased Oblivion and was disappointed that his Celeron wasn't getting the job done. Even my wife's old 2.4 GHz P4 did a better job than the newer generation Celeron could manage. It all boils down to processing power and L2 cache. You don't have it and I promise you'll be upset when you try it. Combine that with the fact that your video card is MUCH too weak to handle Oblivion and you have a heartache in the making. Even on low settings you'd be lucking out to get 10 fps in the outdoor areas.

Only in your dreams perhaps.

Oblivion is one of the most demanding games when it comes to PC hardware. Your current set up is handicapped.
1. Your Celeron is slow for gaming. Consider upgrading to a P4.
2. RAM is just right.
3. ATI 9250 is outdated and slow.
4. And most of all, your graphics interface, the PCI bus is too slow for 3D graphics acceleration.

To enjoy oblivion, you need to upgrade graphics to 8X AGP. X16 PCIe would be best. Then install a fast graphics card. 7900GS or X1950 Pro would be minimum.

Define running. That comp will run it...with 1 or 2 frames per second. That's unplayable. I don't recommend using that computer for games that came out within the last two years. Sorry to be blunt but playing games wil be like watching a slideshow.
