I have the pictures and yearbooks I saved from high school and college. And I have all my paraphernalia from the Armed Forces. I feel much more attached to the Armed Forces stuff. I would have made it a lifelong career, if I hadn't made a very bad choice (over a man) after my first tour of duty.
But in going through my mother's stuff, I noticed that she kept my artwork from grade school. I still don't think that it is very special, even though I won awards for it.
As I grew up poor, I didn't have much material things that weren't handed down through three or four kids before me.

In 1957 and 1958, when I was 16 and 17, I picked up the weekly list of top 40 hits from the local record store almost every week and I still have them.

I went to work in 1960. The next year I received my income tax refund. I bought a loveseat that rocked for 800 dollars.
I had it recovered in 1992, and I still have it. And it is still comfortable and looks nice. It's 47 years old now. Just another reason to spend your money wisely. You get what you pay for.

An old, hand held, school bell that used to get my mom back into the school house.
This bell was used by the teacher and it is reported to be over a hundred years old. It still is in great shape and has a wonderful tone to it, unless your ear is too close.
It will chase the bats around in your belfry.
