1- Identify your major motivation: Do you fear a consequence? Then fear the consequence of being found out or of losing your integrity more.
Do you want to always look better to others? Identify it as insecurity.
2 - Make a "Lie Log". Take five minutes at the end of the day and look back at any lies -- write down the lie and the motivation. Determine to do better. Share with an accountability partner if available.
3 - Give yourself a little reward every time you were tempted to lie but told the truth, even if it's a mental "Good job ME!" On the negative side, some people wear a rubber band on their wrist and give it a snap every time they think a wrong thought.
With time and determination you can become more truthful. Just don't be discouraged as you keep trying. It often takes awhile before truth prevails.

The best way is just not to start lying in the first place. That said if you lie often and want to stop then you have to own up to the lies you have already told and not tell any more. You will find it's so much easier to tell the truth, some people may not always like what you have to say, but they won't have to guess whether to believe what you're telling them or not. Plus it's hard to keep track of what lies you have told to which people.

Before you say anything and you know it might be a lie, let your brain think a few minutes before saying anything. You have to make an effort to stop lying, not only are you lying to others, but your lying to yourself.

It's very difficult, because a lot of your life may be tied in with certain lies. The only way to do it is to tell the truth and watch your life fall apart rapidly! If things are meant to be, they will immediately come back. (For example, an issue I had with my wife when I told her, momentarily split us apart, but soon we came back together stronger than ever -- and it was not a simple little issue!) It takes serious guts to change your life around and I don't know if you will do it. Most people don't change. But you will be happy for the rest of your life if you start and say the truth! Good luck!

Be productive. Keep busy with your hands not your mouth. Like working without talking. Plants flowers, vegetables, mow clean etc. You are out of lying. If he is lying don't listen.

The best way is just to come clean and never do it again. It will eat at you and you will never be happy with yourself or your relationship. Besides, one day, a lie will come back on you.
No matter how much it hurts you or your other, you must come clean. The both of you can work through it. It may take counseling but don't wait until it's too late.

I have no reason to lie. If you are asking how to stop lying for yourself just tape your mouth shut with duct tape.

I don't know, I am not a liar.
You could ask another liar, but they will probably lie to you.
