Maybe he was an intelligent maniac who went around killing people. If I remember correctly, the person who killed the women was pretty precise in their methods which suggests some amount of thought and planning behind the murders. But that doesn't make the killer intelligent, just methodical.

A killer could be any type of person but I just think the killer was probably "normal" by all external appearances (like Ted Bundy or John Wayne Gacy) and not someone who let everyone know that they were dangerous. And for the area the women lived in, I think people would probably remember a really rich clean well dressed person hanging around poor prostitutes. Then again, the police probably wouldn't believe them anyways.

He likely was a quiet person who blended into the community in which he hunted. He was likely slightly more intelligent than average, and was considered a "good fellow" but had few close friends or associates. He likely was very careful not to draw attention to himself or let people get too close to him.

I think he had to be a very intelligent and upper classed individual to get away with what he did.
