It's mostly a matter of common sense depending on what's going on at the time.
If it's not busy, I leave my bike right where it is so I can see it from the kiosk when I am paying.
If it is really busy, I just push the bike forward a bit and into the centre bit between pumps. It's out of the way and you won't get bocked in while you are paying..
If you can't do that for any reason, I've seen some bikers just ride ( or push) the bike right up to the front of the kiosk and leave it there while they pay. I'm not keen on this because the bike is in a vulnerable position just as people are moving away whilst putting on the seatbelt, counting the change, answering the phone, checking makeup and lighting a cigarette. Anything except looking where they are going.
Whatever, just keep it in plain sight !

A lot of stations have gone to "pay first" due to increasing drive-offs. At these places, I pull up to the pump, pay, fuel up, and go get my change, leaving the bike at the pump. If I pull away, and there's a line, I don't want the next guy pumping my change. It happens. At "pay after" places, I'll leave my bike at the pump after fueling, so the cashier doesn't think I'm another drive-off. The only places I take my bike away from the pump are the two local stations where I'm well known.

Personally I fill up and then go and pay and leave the bike by the pump... I figure I deserve the same patience a car driver receives, especially given I can only put a max £10 in my tank!!

Depends on the gas station and what state you're in. I would pump then just go in and pay without moving the bike. Or pay first if that's what the store requires. My reasoning behind leaving the bike while you pay is simply because it gives the cashier a heart attack to see someone pull away from a pump without paying (even if you are going to come in to pay).

Well when I RIDE into the station's lot and pull up to the pump I first, put the bike into neutral & turn off the engine, stick my card into the pump to get the ok then, unlock the cap, select 92 octane for my bike (read your manual for it's octane recommendations), fill'er up and get a receipt.
I pre-pay unless I want a drink then I pay inside after I fill my bike.

Depends on the State sometimes. Here in California, most ALL station require you to pay first, yet anywhere I bought gas in Indiana, I've pumped first.

I fuel up, then pull away from the pump. Its the polite thing to do, and it keeps people from getting too close to the bike.

I do it the same as if driving my car. Put the gas in, then depending upon method of payment, go inside if paying cash, while leaving the bike/scooter where it's at.....or just drive off if using credit or debit cards.
