don't listen any more to the one, that told you that you fried the computer.

The car will not turn over if the battery is down, or dead, or the starter it's self is bad.or a loose connection some ware

Double check the connector(s) that you disconnected and make sure there are no damage for the pins inside has not got pushed back. Also u may have accidentally bump another connector loose while fixxing the egr.....check all fuses carefully for blown for failed ones....make sure the egr valve didn't stay stuck open when cleaning and egr related tubing and mating surfaces for proper connections....check vacuum hoses for proper routing...do a thorough visual inspection in all areas where u made contact when fixxing egr....good luck.

it does not ound like a fried computer. it sounds as if you have wire loose or a dead battery. do your headlights work? radio or anything? you could also have blown a moain fuse or a fuse link. i am not saying that you did not fry your computer but this is not a sign of it. also make sure the car is in park or the clutch is pushed in.
